Biden: I am a Zionist

In a ballroom of a Tel Aviv hotel, U.S. President Joe Biden assured Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his war cabinet, “I do not believe you have to be a Jew to be a Zionist, and I am a Zionist.” These remarks, illustrate Biden’s enduring commitment to Israel and Zionism. This unwavering support, however, raises significant questions about the implications for American foreign policy and the nation’s global standing.

Biden’s affinity for Israel is deeply rooted in his political career. He has long been one of the foremost “Friends of Israel” in American politics. This connection seems to guide his approach during one of the most challenging crises of his presidency. The president’s steadfast support for Israel, even amid widespread condemnation of its actions, underscores a foreign policy that many see as increasingly out of touch with global realities.

The international community’s perception of Israel has plummeted, driven by its ongoing genocide in Gaza that has left 35,000+ dead. The Biden administration’s blind support for Israel not only has destroyed America’s so called moral authority but also complicates diplomatic relations with other nations. As the death toll rises and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, the U.S. complicity in the on going genocide has destroyed America’s reputation and whatever soft power it had remaining from the years of disastrous foreign policy.

Biden’s foreign policy strategy is increasingly at exposing the hypocrisy with what America attempts to promote an image of principles of justice and human rights. The international community’s condemnation of Israel’s actions stands in sharp contrast to the U.S. government’s unwavering support. This disparity exposes the hypocrisy in America’s foreign policy, where strategic alliances often take precedence over America’s so called values.

The ramifications of Biden’s stance are far-reaching. Domestically, it alienates a growing segment of Americans who are critical of Israel’s policies and sympathetic to the Palestinian plight. The administration’s current trajectory is deepening divisions and exacerbating tensions both at home and abroad.

The Biden administration’s uncritical support for Israel amid its genocide in Gaza highlights a significant flaw in American foreign policy. This approach not only exposes the U.S.’s so called moral authority but also complicates its diplomatic efforts and global standing.
